Dr Louise’s granola recipe

I recently shared my daily habits in The Telegraph, which include a breakfast of homemade granola, and hot water with a slice of lemon.

So many people asked me to share my granola recipe, so here it is!

Every couple of months I make a huge vat of it because the sugar content in the shop-bought varieties is too high. I store it in a massive airtight container and it lasts for months.

Ingredients

1.2kg oats

150ml olive oil

100ml agave syrup

4 tsp cinnamon

100-150g (approx of each) oat bran, wheatgerm, linseed, flaxseed, sultanas

handful of chopped nuts (optional, so clearly avoid if you have a nut allergy)

handful of goji berries

handful of mixed seeds

Method

1. Pour the oats into a very large bowl. Stir through the olive oil and add agave syrup and cinnamon. Mix thoroughly.

2. Tip into a large roasting dish and roast in the oven for 20-30 minutes. After 10 minutes, take out of oven and give it all a big stir so the oats do not burn.

3. Allow to cool.

4. Stir through oat bran, wheatgerm, linseed, flaxseed, sultanas, chopped nuts, goji berries, mixed seeds.

5. Serve with Greek yoghurt and any fruit you fancy.
