In this episode, Dr Louise Newson looks closely at an important new paper by menopause specialists Dr Sarah Glynne and Professor James Simon, exploring how hormone doses can be tailored to maximise benefit and minimise risk.

Following recent confusion around hormone prescribing, Louise reflects on why a one-size-fits-all approach to HRT simply doesn’t work. She shares her own experience of hormone therapy and explains how absorption varies widely between women, meaning that standard doses may not always be enough to protect long-term health or fully relieve symptoms.

This is a practical, evidence-based conversation about why individualised prescribing matters, how hormone levels relate to heart and metabolic health and what both clinicians and women need to understand when it comes to getting the dose right.
