In this powerful and deeply personal episode, Dr Louise Newson speaks with Wendy, a teacher and single mother, about her long struggle to be heard and properly treated for severe hormonal symptoms.

Wendy shares how her health began to unravel in her early 30s when she started to experience migraines, mood swings and exhaustion. When she reached out to her GP, all her symptoms were dismissed as stress, depression or “just life”, despite clear symptoms of perimenopause and premature ovarian insufficiency, and her repeated requests for hormone therapy were met with rejection.

In this conversation, Wendy and Dr Louise talk about what happens when women are denied effective treatment, why some people need higher doses of HRT and how misconceptions within healthcare systems continue to harm women’s physical and mental wellbeing.
